40 Days to Practice Alone Together

June 8 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 8:00 am, repeating until July 31, 2020

This program is part of my 300 Hour Advanced Teacher Training but truly anyone with a seasoned practice can participate at whatever level of commitment you are able. I am asking folks to try and commit to as much as possible but really only the ones enrolled for credit are required to attend. This will be a fun experiment and truly the more the merrier/the more accountable we will all feel!
40 Days to Practice Alone Together
Monday- Friday
June 8 – July 31 via Zoom
  • Opening Chant
  • Morning Pages (5 minutes of stream of consciousness writing)
  • Joint Warm-ups
  • Activation Circuit (this may vary each day!)
  • Contemplation around the Theme of the Day (topics will range from the 5 Elements, Chakras, Hindu deities/myths to the Yoga Sutras)
  • Asana/Movement Practice
    • Mondays, taught by Alicia
    • Tuesdays, taught by an advanced teacher trainee
    • Wed-Friday, self-taught. You do not have to do yoga postures during this time – just move in whatever way you feel like moving for about 45 minutes to a shared playlist with the group (or your own playlist if you prefer). You could do some weight lifting. go for a quick run, or follow a traditional yoga practice.
  • Pranayama
  • Seated Meditation
  • Closing OM
In Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, he suggests that the depth of yoga can only be experienced through a committed and consisted practice over a long period of time. What better time to dedicate yourself to a deeper yoga than now? I invite you to join me in this commitment and find out what unfolds as a path to resilience and strength for the new world we will be creating together on the other side of this pandemic.
Summer Program Investment = $200 (comes to $5/class).

This comes to about 60 hours of practice over the course of 40 days (which is just about what is needed to form a new habit).
I was reminded of this Zen Koan the other day: “With empty hands, I take hold of the plow”. That is to say, we need to release what was in order to begin building what will be. Shall we all collectively let go and begin again?

We’re in this together – as we always have been and always will be,
